You're welcome, Vapors. It's nice to recapture the memories--and I've got a million. I went all through junior high and high school (until he dropped out) w/ Billy Kreutzman. My older sibs had his mother for a teacher (gym, I think). I was in the same class as Sara Rupenthal's little brother Steve, but we didn't know each other, as he was a jock and I was a proto hippy. I knew the New Rider lead singer too, but I can't remember his name. I'm sure you know who I mean. I remember the last time I saw Jerry was about 20 years ago. I picked my daughter up at the airport when she was coming back from Hawaii, and Garcia was on the same plane. I felt kinda sorry for him, 'cause my girl is gorgeous, and his daughters, unfortunately, seem to have inherited his looks rather than their mothers'. I know that's very superficial, but Sara in particular was so delicate that it took me aback to see a picture of Heather. The only time I ever saw her was when she was a baby. I was in the group hanging at her and Jerry's house, and she was not at all delighted to have a bunch of starstruck teenies cluttering up her living room. We left, and Jerry and Ron nearly got in a fist fight--I forget why--and I was so appalled, as I hate violence. This is good--I'm getting this stuff down before it evaporates into, shall I say it?--the Vapors.

Posting to myself again. It was Tim Dawson who was in New Riders, right? I remember him and Rich McCauley and Julie Aldige. I remember Hamilton House where the band lived before the Haight. (My grandma lived just two blocks away.) They turned me on to my first James Brown song, "Outta Sight," which was before "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag." I'm thinking I was snarky about Garcia's girls in my last post. After all, we all lose our looks in the end. My current moniker is a sad variation of Quick Brown Fox, which is what Hinckle and Clancy called me when I worked at Coppola's magazine City when I was married to my second husband, underground cartoonist Guy Colwell (Inner City Romance, Doll). Anyone else from the old days out there, or am I just spitting in the wind?

I wouldn't call it "spitting into the wind".

More like "reliving memories & telling stories to anyone who's interested in listening".

I'm enjoying listening (reading) to you ruminate & drive down "memory lane"!
